Trauma is defined as a deeply distressing or disturbing experience. You don't have to have been in active combat or in a scene from the movies to have experienced trauma. Most people have had some experience that would qualify and these can have lasting impacts on our life. There have been clients who come specifically to address their trauma but even in couples work, trauma always comes up in some form or another. It can be a scary thing for many clients to give attention to these areas of life and we are here to walk the path with you.
Jodie practices a type of therapy called Internal Family Systems (IFS). IFS recognizes the multiplicity of the mind (ex: being able to feel two different emotions at once) and helps us explore the different "parts" of ourselves that get stuck.
